3 Proven ways to stop temper tantrums in their tracks
3 Proven ways to stop temper tantrums in their tracks
Below is a list of things I did to stop my daughter ‘s Temper Tantrums, before her toddler temper tantrums drove me insane.
Never take her out during her usual naptimes or right before— I found my daughter was 10 times more likely to through a fit just before naptime.
Stop Pick her up say if you cant behave we are leaving pick her up and take her home… it worked she did it in walmart twice both times I simply left the store and took her home and put her down for a brief nap… she stopped having temper tantrums in stores
Do not respond to them at all…. I used to basically argue with her, which seemed to just feed into the tantrum and make it worse. I started just quietly picking her up and putting her in timeout and telling her she can come out when she is finished her temper tantrum then walking away… they became much shorter lived.
My daughter had a wicked little temper on her… she started having breath holding spells at about 6-8 months which we finally got under control… then moved on to the most unbelievable temper tantrums around age 3. Luckily the temper tantrums decreased rapidly once I stopped reacting to them.

I have found that most tantrums continue and just get worse by giving them more attention. If my little toddler starts to throw a fit about something, and it is feasible for me to do this, I will just walk away from him and ignore him. It worked in my preschool classroom, too, if a child would start a tantrum I would just gather the rest of the students in a quiet corner of the room and we’d start to do something really fun. We wouldn’t pay any attention to the tantrumer and soon he would find his way to our little group - calm, cool, and collected again. Again, it’s not always going to be okay to just ignore and walk away, though.
Thanks ckcramer that is wonderful advice.
