Please help me save my socks!
Yet again today, I got up, fed K Breakfast, then we went to get dressed. I opened my sock drawer and no-socks. I just did the laundry 2 days ago, and I had 1 pair left in there last night. So I go to K to ask her where are mommys socks and sure enough she took them and they are on her little feet. I asked her to please give mommy her socks back as my feet will get cold, and she looks me in the eye and says “I had them first mommy and you need to share go wear my socks.
This sock issue is quickly becoming a pet peeve of mine (which my husband thinks is sooo funny) she steals all my socks. Sometimes she goes through 3-4 pairs a day and she even losses them. This darling child must have 40 pairs of her own, yet she insists on wearing mine.
I have tried telling her “no”. I have tried explaining that i need them and that I cant wear hers…. I even tried hiding them on the top shelf in the closet. When I hid them she had a complete melt down… which ended up being three days of time outs and socks being pulled off the second I put them on her. So I decided it was better to lose my socks then my mind.
Does anyone else have sock issues? And Ideas as to why on earth she does this?
I am so sick of buying socks and not getting to wear any some days.
(and yes I know that once I said no I shouldn’t have given in but you would have to have been there to understand just how stubborn and irrational she was on just this one thing)

Oh I agree it’s better to lose your socks than your sanity. I haven’t had this issue and I’m sure if I did I wouldn’t think it’s as funny as it seems in your post (sorry!). What about getting K some cute character socks or frilly socks… something that would be more appealing to her than your socks? Or buy her some really cheap adult size socks… and then hide your own!
That is too funny! Maybe you can buy some inexpensive packs of socks that you can put in your sock drawer just for that purpose. Wear them a few times so she thinks they’re your real ones. And then hide your real ones and use them. I don’t know if I’m making sense. How old is she?
Not with socks, but combs. They kept disappearing and I realized my 3yo son was taking them. One day, I caught him shoving them in a slot that went to a space under our sink - and voila, I looked back there and found a huge mound of combs. Perhaps there’s a giant pile of socks hidden somewhere in your home! They’re so sneaky, aren’t they.
thanks for the life! wish i could help you on it my boy never wears socks mainly flip flops. hell i have a heck of a time just yelling at him to keep his clothes on. ha good luck!
