Theives in plain view on our street

Published by shannonf at 2:48 pm under Mothers Random Rants Edit This

I was outside sitting in my husbands truck in the driveway last night sipping a coffee and having a smoke (I know filthy habit).  It was about 2 am. I noticed a rather gross looking woman who appeared to be leaving on of the neighbours houses across the street and a few doors up.

The house belongs to a very nice family and the woman appeared to be a crackhead.  My husband and I looked at each other and said what the hell.  We then noticed that she was walking up the very next driveway and tried all the doors on the minivan and car parked there.  She repeated this with each driveway until she got about 5 houses up (she walked right past us) she found a car open and hopped right in and started rummaging through the contents.

My husband kicked me out of his truck and told me to go inside the house (i didnt listen) and he drove over there and yelled at her.  What the hell do you think you are doing and she tried to say she forgot something in the car earlier.  My husband then told her she was a liar she had been checking all the cars on the street and went to knock on the door.  She walked away slowly and slowly headed up the street.

The neighbour who was being robbed never came to answer the door, and leave super early for work so we never got a chance to tell them what happened.

I really can’t believe it happened.  She had to have seen and heard us?  We live in a quiet neighbourhood, on a quiet street where everyone knows their neighbours.  I guess this means I need to be diligent locking everything up.

When people want something they don’t care who’s watching. We recently had a string of break-ins in our neighborhood during the day. The burglars would use a crowbar to pry open front doors and take what they could… they didn’t care who saw. Fortunately they didn’t hit my street but I was scared to death for awhile.

That’s terrible… hard to believe the stuff that goes on these days.

I would be terrified if there were people prying doors open in broad daylight here.
